In order to do a proper EGR delete You have to do following:
ECM tuning:
- Once the ECM is tuned you can block off EGR valve.
With EGR deleted, all the filters (DPF DOC SCR), and DEF are deleted as well.
Onebox delete instructions - Our DetroitDiesel EGR delete tuning come with a mild power upgrade (fleet safe).
This upgrade will be benefitial for the MPG score. - List of all our delete tunes for Detroit Diesel engines.
EGR delete - block off:
- The way to block off EGR is the same on all engines.
EGR needs to be blocked with steel plates on both cold & hot side.
1st block off plate goes on "hot side" where EGR manifold meets exhaust manifold.
2nd block off plate goes on "cold side" where EGR manifold meets intake manifold.
- The reason we recommend blocking off EGR on both sides, is because our experience tells us that the engine will run the best this way.
Once You block off intake(cold) side, there will be no chance of an air leak.
Same thing goes for exhaust(hot) side, there will be no chance of an exhaust leak. - On the photo below You will see place where block off plates(expansion plugs in this case) go.
The photo is taken on Detroit Diesel DD15, but DD13 & DD16 are very similar.

- We used expansion plugs, to block both ends of flex pipe.

- Below is the photo of intake side - crossover pipe.
Unbolt corssover pipe, and put a plate between it & intake manifold.
